Compression Testing - A vital AREA TEST - Assessing your engine's mechanical condition and ability to compress air and fuel is directly proportional to the engine's performance. A compression test is an AREA TEST that will give you an idea of the engine's overall health. To isolate exact problems, the next step is a Cylinder Leakage or Leak Down Test.
Cylinder Leak Testing - A vital PINPOINT TEST -
The Compression Test point out abnormal conditions. To determine the exact cause, another detailed test MUST be done. This test, called the Cylinder Leakage Test, is made to pinpoint exhaust and intake valve leaks, leaks between cylinders or into the water jacket, or excessive leakage past the rings. As you will see in the video, a quality Cylinder Leakage Tester is critical.
